Back Pain

Relieve the Pain. Regain the Freedom.

What is Back Pain?

Back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal issues faced by people across all age groups. It can range from mild discomfort to debilitating pain that affects day-to-day activities. Often caused by poor posture, sedentary lifestyle, heavy lifting, spinal degeneration, or injury, back pain may be acute or chronic. In conventional treatment, painkillers and muscle relaxants are often used for temporary relief. At Kaivalya Ayurveda, we focus on identifying the root cause, relieving the pain naturally, and preventing its recurrence through holistic healing.

Ayurvedic View of Back Pain

In Ayurveda, back pain is generally associated with a condition called “Kati Shoola”, which results from an imbalance in the Vata dosha. When Vata accumulates in the lower back region due to improper diet, excessive activity, emotional stress, or toxin accumulation, it affects the muscles, bones, and nerves, causing pain, stiffness, or inflammation. The dryness and instability caused by aggravated Vata weakens the spinal support system. At Kaivalya Ayurveda, our treatments are designed to pacify Vata, strengthen the spine, and restore natural alignment and flexibility.

Causes of Back Pain

Ayurveda identifies a variety of causes for back pain — including poor posture, lack of physical exercise, excessive sitting, improper lifting, weakened digestion, and disturbed sleep cycles. Emotional factors like anxiety, overthinking, and fatigue also vitiate Vata, worsening pain. Injury, trauma, obesity, and age-related disc degeneration are common physical contributors. At Kaivalya Ayurveda, we consider both physical and emotional factors to design a complete healing plan for lasting relief.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Back Pain at Kaivalya Ayurveda

Back pain treatment at Kaivalya Ayurveda combines Panchakarma detox, local therapies, and internal herbal support to relieve pain and improve spinal health. Therapies like Kati Basti (warm medicated oil retention on the lower back), Patra Pinda Sweda (herbal poultice massage), and Abhyanga (full-body massage) are highly effective in releasing muscle tension, improving circulation, and lubricating joints. In more severe or chronic cases, Basti (medicated enema) therapy is recommended to correct deep-seated Vata imbalances.

Herbal formulations such as Yogaraj Guggulu, Dashmool Kwath, and Rasnadi Churna are prescribed to reduce inflammation and strengthen the back. We also provide corrective guidance on posture, diet, physical activity, and stress management under the expert care of Dr. Subodh Chaturvedi. Every case is evaluated individually, ensuring a treatment plan that is natural, effective, and sustainable.
